Operation Military Family
OMF is now entering its second phase as a peer to peer, grassroots company, with an approach to preparing and equipping the military marriage and family for pre-deployment and post-deployment “battle readiness.” The mission is simple: to enrich and strengthen military families to be resilient. With increasing military divorce and suicide rates, Operation Military Family is now working with senior leadership to prepare the military family through Coaching, Best-in-Class Resources and Technology. The goal is to move information beyond the class room or briefing, which is typically how military families are equipped and into the communities, creating a network of family, friend and expert support that current programs do not offer. Michael Schindler, a Navy veteran, is a contributor to The Washington Times, sits on the Resilient Families Committee for Survivor Corp, is the author of the book “Operation Military Family” and “The Military Wire” blog, and also happens to be a popular keynote speaker. His presentations are entertaining, funny and packed with practical “how-to” tips on improving personal, business and military relationships. IS THE MILITARY BECOMING SYNONYMOUS WITH DIVORCE? By Mike Schindler Every day we hear or read in the media how veteran stress cases are up or how deployments are ripping families apart; all while the government, the military and military families are passively standing by. But is this true? The answer is no. My interview will inform your audience that families are taking action and that the government and the military are not just “standing by”. Never in the history of the United States have these two entities paid more attention to families, or worked harder toward saving and strengthening marriages. However, traditional media and public thinking don’t hold this belief. This topic is undoubtedly controversial, yet it will raise awareness for all your listeners on what they can do to support our troops and their families, regardless of their stance on the wars. Having interviewed numerous families, chaplains, therapists and government officials for my book, Operation Military Family: How to Strengthen Your Military Marriage and Save Your Family, I’ve learned of many of the key resources and programs the government makes available to families in an effort to strengthen military marriages. My interview will not only provide your listeners with these resources but it will highlight how several couples transitioned from civilian life to active duty life and how they dealt with the emotions and circumstances brought on by deployment. We can address the readjustment period as well, as that is mentioned in the book. My interview will also include the latest research and studies on military marriages and I will address several of the public misconceptions surrounding the military’s commitment to marriage. As prior Navy, I saw firsthand the hardships long deployments can have on servicemen and women as well as on their families. The recent military engagements have affected many of my friends and their families and it is for these reasons that I founded Operation Military Family – an organization committed to developing sound strategies to strengthen military marriages and families. I look forward to scheduling an interview with you on my book and this topic. Please contact me at 206- 795-5890 or mschindler@operationmilitaryfamily.org.
