To Financial Advisers - Can you please assist? Thanks, Steve

"My husband is in the National Guard. We opened our business in October of 2008. It's been a struggle to start the business, and he just left for a 13 month deployment. I'm left trying to do my full-time job (not family business), and run the family business (aside from the usual mom/dad/house things). Unfortunately, we're financially struggling and I'm at a loss as to what to do next. I had to hire people to work the hours my husband would normally work, and we even closed the store all but three days a week. We own a running store, selling shoes and accessories. I don't have the money to purchase more merchandise and advertise, so it seems like I'm sitting in limbo, except for the bills I have to pay.

Let me know what other info you might need. I'd be happy to get any help you can offer."

Folks, can anyone offer advice/guidance to Steve Richey about his problem?

From: STEVE RICHEY [mailto:d9dozer@verizon.net]

I've spent probably 30 hours trying to get to someone who I can actually talk toabout a stimulus small business loan...that Pres. Obama keeps telling everyone are the loans he wants to make... and there is no way in hell you can decipher or get past the all the screens and to where I need to make my application.... right now I'm trying a registered bank that makes SBA loans...and I think they are going to be about the same.

I hear loans, grants, and stimulus money...but I can't get to it.... it' s really bad! I've heard Obama was upset because the money isn't getting out to businesses...and it's because there is no path to make an application..

if there's a way, I'd like to find it.

It's pretty amazing that throughout the world military folk tend to be pretty similar in outlook, regardless of the politics and politicians around us. Hail the ANZACS- loyal & true, and always good for a beer! Happy Gnu Ears!

Happy New Year to all! Question - does anyone think that the economy is starting to pick up steam as the MSM (Main Stream Media) say, or are they just trying to be politically correct? I sure don't see it here in the (once) great motor city!

Ken Miller - I don't see it picking up. I think there was a Christmas rush, but I see that dying out and we will be back to where we were a few months ago. I truly don't see it getting much better until maybe late 2010.

Happy New Year to everyone, thanks for serving.

13.
Steve Jeffery
@ Ken M...I would be interested to hear further responses to your question. What I am observing globally is a state of inertia.

@ Ken H...Thanks Ken and to you all for your sacrifices for our country and some many others. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of a universal brotherhood.

Scott..."Vetrepreneur"! Now THAT term has LEGS!...In fact, I am in the process of recording a video series "Veteran Entrepreneur" for our website http://www.earlnightingale.com.au/military_network/ as part of a new-year campaign to help inspire/re-inspire veteran business owners or those contemplating business. We are also driving a campaign to create a 'Veteran Market', where veterans support veterans, sourcing and supporting veteran-owned businesses to ensure that they not only survive but can grow in this crisis market. The concept is coming together. Todd Phillips, co-host of Military Network Radio, http://www.earlnightingale.com.au/military_network/military-network-radio and I have invited a number of veteran entrepreneurs to participate in 'Featered Veteran' interviews, where they will also get front-page feature. Hate to be the cold water in the face. I do not see it turning anytime soon. Here in Southern Calif they are talking another 10-15 years to get back to anything close to employment and housing numbers.
I am a statistic. Lost my home (do not trust IndyMac) to a coniving group of bankers. The 'right' hand told me to do one thing and the 'left' hand forclosed on me. I have many words for the group at IndyMac and Bank west one. Foremost they are thieves. All they want is the TARP money. I got that from of the their reps.
We are moving out of California for good. Anywhere is better than here. Had to vent.
Forget about my senators as both of them are anti-vet.

20.
Steve Jeffery
Larry, this is terrible news...I am saddened at your loss and equally saddened to learn that banks continue to be populated by the same personality types that drove the world into this mess, namely, Avarice, Hubris and Narcissm...These people have absolutely no principles...

I understand your situation...Several years ago, I fell victim to the same personality type, being my Financial Controller, known by his previous employer...my Bank...as an embezzler. I lost my business, home, several million dollars, the result of a life-times work, sacrifice and risk-taking by my wife and I. Ended up pennyless at age 45...However, I accepted, in this instance, unlike your situation, full responsibility...forgave him (from a human not a religious perspective), which started the healing process and we then began the task of rebuilding. This process actually resulted an amazing new journey and I remain in awe at the wonderful things life truly has to offer. More importantly I learned that failure is all part of our evolution as individuals and that 'speed' of recovery and focus on our goals is critical.

Larry, I am confident that you and other military people have what it takes to recover...

Please keep us all informed as your new journey unfolds.

Wishing you and your loved ones every happiness and new successes in 2010.

I am a statistic. Lost my home (do not trust IndyMac) to a coniving group of bankers. The ‘right’ hand told me to do one thing and the ‘left’ hand forclosed on me.

Larry, this is terrible news…I am saddened at your loss and equally saddened to learn that banks continue to be populated by the same personality types that drove the world into this mess, namely, Avarice, Hubris and Narcissm…These people have absolutely no principles…

I understand your situation…Several years ago, I fell victim to the same personality type, being my Financial Controller, known by his previous employer…my Bank…as an embezzler. I lost my business, home, several million dollars, the result of a life-times work, sacrifice and risk-taking by my wife and I. Ended up pennyless at age 45…However, I accepted, in this instance, unlike your situation, full responsibility…forgave him (from a human not a religious perspective), which started the healing process and we then began the task of rebuilding. This process actually resulted an amazing new journey and I remain in awe at the wonderful things life truly has to offer. More importantly I learned that failure is all part of our evolution as individuals and that ’speed’ of recovery and focus on our goals is critical.

Larry, I am confident that you and other military people have what it takes to recover…

Please keep us all informed as your new journey unfolds.

Wishing you and your loved ones every happiness and new successes in 2010.

Hi Ray, I regret the delay in responding to your query. Yes, your father's combat records are a valuable record. I would offer to place them on this site, but as you can see it's a pretty dynamic environment and changes all the time. Can I suggest that you contact a War Museum, War Memorial, State Library or similar. They may at least be able to point you in the right direction.

Let us know how you go. The feedback would be interesting for others.

Best regards,
Steve

Hi There, Quick Question:
I recently came across my late fathers 1943 WWII military combat records and I am wondering if there is a web site where these can be posted. These are a piece of history and may be lost if we do not attempt to save our heritage. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks, Ray

The medical device described on the website is the Best rendition of the video laryngoscope ( larynx-scope ): used to place a breathing tube into a persons windpipe to give oxygen when the person is not breathing, or not breathing well enough to sustain life and prevent strokes and heart attacks. Our product will be used on the front lines and in the backup ERs and ORs.

As I write it is being evaluated by AFMESA: Air Force Medical Equipment Support Activity, Ft. Detrick, Maryland.

Twelve devices were submitted for the competition. We are in the Final Four.

The product is Japanese-made. The manufacturer is reluctant to come to the USA. I am not a big enough company for them to deal with. In this regard they are correct, as my resources are minimal, and at this stage this becomes a more expensive project than I can now manage, requiring multiple evaluation units for starters. And having one supplier for a critical device is never safe. And when that supplier is not American the risk is greater.

The article is timely and right on the mark. CSN sets up and manages corporate drug testing programs. The latter includes federally and State mandated testing. Through the use of a national network of providers, CSN can offer extremely affordable rates for its services.

I will personally work with you to make sure your program is both effective and compliant. Our regulatory consulting comes at no additional charge. CSN focuses on what it does best – assisting you in maintaining a drug free work environment. An easy first step toward reducing unwanted costs and increasing productivity.

Gentlemen,
I am the most highly qualified SDVOSB General Contractor in Nevada.
I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
After engineering school I worked for the DOD at the Naval Ordinance Lab and in the Trident Sub Program for two years.
I have been a Licensed General Contractor for thirty (30) years.
I have been to DOD conventions and seminars until the cows came home.
I am listed in VetBiz, CCR, S.A.M.E., and a dozen others.
I am Certified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business.
Nothing. My efforts have produced nothing. Veterans come last. Business as usual.

My challenge to you is, get me contracts so I can employ veterans. I will build anywhere, anytime , anything, and under any conditions, including combat. There are men with guts to get the job done. 70% unemployment in Nv construction.

Stop talking and start doing.

Ed, thanks for the article. The reason Mike and I formed this community is to bring a focus on Vets working together and supporting each other with first preference on jobs for Vets and their families and first preference in engaging with Veteran owned businesses to give them every chance of surviving and growing during this time of financial crisis.

We volunteer our time, money and our resources to this cause and we are grateful and encouraged by the fantastic response from Military people.

The contracts situation as you describe is a challenge we recognize and are in the process of addressing. We are working with other Veterans who have been successful in winning contracts and who are keen to explain to others how to go about it.

Let me know when would be a good time to call you to discuss further.

Is here to help other firms team with a quality Architect to purse projects with sdvob and vob set asides. Gregg, thanks for responding. We are proud to be able to help you.

Firstly, we are not an organization. Mike and I recognized the serious challenges and hardships that Veterans and families are facing during this economic crisis. We chose to do something about it by contributing our time, money and resources to establish and build a forum that brings together Veterans nationally to work together to provide priority hiring of Veterans and their families and also to give Veteran owned businesses priority in all purchasing decisions to help them survive and grow.

We have captured our mission and our goals succinctly on the homepage. The response from the military community in just a short time has been extraordinary. We have received offers of support from all quarters and we are working with these members to rapidly to pull this together into a range of focused services and options.

Our first priorities as outlined are jobs for Veterans and support for Veteran businesses. We yesterday launched the MilNet job search facility, providing access to more than 4 million jobs nationally. We are about to release another major initiative to support and help build Veteran owned businesses. Other initiatives we have in train in conjunction with other Veteran owned businesses will help transitioning Veterans establish their own businesses; access preferred funding facilities; assist with Veteran housing; focused training; personal development; buiness advice and guidance and others.

Gregg, if you can send us details of your business, your unique skills/experience, any special deals you may have for Veteran consumers we will work with you to outline a strategy to move forward.

I hope this response has adequately addressed your query.

We look forward to working with you.
